KWL received the Award of Merit for its Rapid Hydropower Assessment Model (RHAM) at the March 8, 2008 CEBC Awards Gala. RHAM is a powerful GIS-based computer model that KWL developed to assess run-of-the-river hydroelectric potential. The model was applied to a project for BC Hydro and the British Columbia Transmission Corporation (BCTC) to identify all potential run-of-the-river hydroelectric sites in BC.
RHAM enabled completion of the assessment in an astonishing four months! It also identified over 8,200 viable sites, representing over 50,000 gigawatt-hours of electricity per year.
